TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Community Economic Development Certificate Program, comprehensive training program offered in collaboration with Clemson University and Benedict College to local community economic development (CED) practitioners, policy makers, and partners who support community economic development throughout the state of South Carolina. Compliance Academy offers community development corporations and their staff the invigorating opportunity to build skills, learn from peers, and connect to existing state, regional and national resources. A series of one-day trainings will occur throughout the year to cover topics including board development, legal issues, financial management and deal structuring. This training is geared specifically toward Community Development Corporations.
Annual Conference includes keynote speakers and breakout sessions. Community Economic Development practitioners interact and focus their collective energy on the current housing and economic development needs in the industry.
ACCESS TO CAPITAL
Community Economic Development Fund (CED Fund), administered through the S.C. Department of Commerce and SCACDC to support CDC sponsored projects in the state that create jobs, start small businesses, create affordable housing and help low-to-moderate income persons acquire assets.Community Impact Fund offered to member CDCs to facilitate development of commercial, affordable housing, or other economic development projects. Grant Alerts, we keep our members "up to date" on grant opportunities available throughout the year.
Southern Association for Financial Empowerment (SAFE), an emerging CDFI created by SCACDC to provide alternative financial products and services in support of community economic development in low and moderate income communities of South Carolina.
S.C. Individual Development Account Program, SCACDC helps administer and provide match funding to six (6) CDCs in the state through funding received from the S.C. Department of Social Services.
GRASSROOTS LEADERSHIP/ADVOCACY
South Carolina Asset Development Collaborative (SCADC) is a statewide initiative designed to bring a diverse group of partners together to share and combine resources and strategies in a joint effort to increase savings, wealth building and access to credit among low-wealth residents in South Carolina.Grassroots Development Initiative - The Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) was developed to outline a specific process to assist the SCACDC in strengthening the ability of its members (the community development corporations) to have a greater impact on public policy issues. We know that you are working hard, reducing poverty and building a movement in your neighborhood or town. Each year, a Public Policy Agenda, is created to share the issues affecting low wealth communities with state and national policymakers each year.
